For one full day in February, all our kids were here. There was a birthday party for ‘the baby,’ a cold trip to the beach, some pretty delighted grandparents, and a fried seafood dinner.
It was pretty much perfect.

During baking time, I am usually in jeans and a flour-covered T-shirt. My five-year-old, however, looks like this:
Hmm. Who’d have thought that a new family pet would help teach our (sometimes very stubborn) little girls some life and behavior lessons?
Answer: Well, her mama hoped.
I am still in awe, in awe, of the gift of motherhood.
She, newly 4, is still my baby.
And sometimes, we find each other quietly. Still.
